Ellyott is a musician, singer, DJ, teacher, composer and radio broadcaster. As the soloist of the funk rock band Pollyanna Frank, Ellyott began performing songs that criticized issues of sex, gender, chauvinism, feminism in 1989. She critiqued nationalism and materialism. She was the first Israeli singer to speak openly and confidently about being a lesbian, paving the way for many others. In June, 2015, when Israel’s LGBT Task Force turned 40, Ellyott was part of a list of the forty most influential people in the LGBT community. Ellyott continues to create and relate to topics that provoke controversy, social struggles, narratives, identities and the representation of communities. On her weekly radio program, Ellyott offers a platform and airtime to artists from communities that receive very little representation on mainstream Israeli radio. As a music production teacher, she places emphasis on making technology accessible as a tool for personal expression and autonomy.
